MIX CHALLENGE - MC088 October 2022 - Mix Round 2 in evaluation

#91

Post by Mister Fox »

It's the 05th November 2022, 00:10 (UTC+1) - the 2nd Mix Round has officially ended.

STATISTICS
  • Unfortunately, not everyone has sent in an edit
  • We have 3 Wild Card uses to advance into the next round (@alanvaldez, @FromAtoZMix, @studio equator -- not present this month)
  • We have 1 participant that decided on not to advance through the use of a Wild Card (@dewho)
  • We have 1 submission after the deadline (@alanvaldez -- and it's an MP3!)

Please check your upload links again (I could not download all files), and have an eye on this thread for more feedback and a possible Mix Round 3, or an announcement of the final results.

I'm now opening up the room (again) for Q&A's and giving each other feedback (which is highly encouraged)

Please check out all other games on the community. The Songwriting Competition is still in full swing. :tu:
Please also consider becoming a Song Provider - no more material means no more Mix(ing) Challenges

See you on the flipside.

I would like to ask you.. is this an .mp3 file? Lossy compression is not supposed to happen yet.
The required format is at least 48.000 Hz 24-bit Stereo .wav or .aiff file.

Maybe you can still do something, but I'm afraid you'll be disqualified when Mister Fox comes out of his beauty sleep and has polished his nails..

I would like to ask

@doobop

to send me a private message with the following information:

-your online music profiles / websites.
in order of preference: website, (username).bandcamp.com, music.youtube.com/(channel link), soundcloud.com/(username), hearthis.at/(username), soundclick.com/(username), spotify.com/(artist link), apple music (artist link), instagram (discouraged), twitter (discouraged), tiktok (discouraged)
-your donation profiles / websites.
preferred: Paypal.me link, Patreon link, (username).bandcamp.com, donation page on website
-any other links and information you would like me to note.
-the **correct and only way** to write your artist/mix engineer name.
-your permission to later release your mix as a Creative Commons BY-NC-ND in .mp3 and lossless .flac CD quality file with a link back to you.
this will become free to copy, download, broadcast, as-is, with names mentioned, no commercial use, no derivatives.
-if you want, you can send me your email address or contact info for later, I will not publish that.

Although the mixes are all mine as stated under the conditions of this competition,
I would like your permission and all the needed information to link back to you.

When I have your information and permission,
I will later release the Round 2 mixes and the original as under Creative Commons BY-NC-ND conditions with your names/profiles mentioned,
I will also mutually give that same permission to release under the same conditions with "EatMe - Shift - " and your name/profile mentioned "mix".

The original song is in the Youtube Content ID system, and also in Shazam.
I would discourage to upload your mixes to YouTube, you may get a strike from their robot..

Note: You **need** my permission to share your mix anywhere out of the scope of this competition.

Thank you all, once again, I will be watching my inbox and this forum.

Nice chart. Are the two lines for each mix related to L/R signals? By the way, I'm sending you my info tomorrow, as you asked in another post, @EatMe .

There is only one line per mix, for the complete stereo field.
They are listed as the colored lines appear starting from the left side (sorry the software has only this limited colorset).

I will be replying to the private message of your information about the permission (see previous post) when it lands in my inbox and I read it...

hi! I just re-uploaded the song as a gift for you, I´m aware that my mix will not be taken in count for this contest anymore because I was late!

MIX CHALLENGE - MC088 October 2022 - Mix Round 2 in evaluation

#100

Post by Mister Fox »

A quick follow up to Mix Round 2:

First and foremost: the presented charts by @EatMe are from the software "Expose 2" by company "Mastering the Mix". The charts depict a general tonal balance of ones production in comparison to each other.

Furthermore: As every participant knows and agreed to the given Rules and Guidelines, I will not overrule anything for Round 2 in fairness to all involved contestants.

@dewho sadly did not continue into Mix Round 2. May it be due to time constraints, or for not wanting to use a Wild Card

@FromAtoZMix unfortunately didn't have an accessible file until half a day after the deadline, additionally it's in WAV 48kHz 32bit floating point

@alanvaldez submitted the changes over 2,5 hours after the deadline

What is up to debate, is the dBTP readout for @maxovrdrive's entry. According to Wavelab 10 Pro, the dBTP readout is -0,99 dBTP, which would be within allowed tolerances. According to "Expose 2" however, it is listed as -0,94 dBTP, would would have therefore exceeded allowed loudness limits. Just to be thorough, I also checked with Youlean Loudness Meter 2 Pro (three times: default preset, EBU R128 and ITU-R BS.1770-4), where the signal maximum is listed as -0,90 dBTP. I brought that up to the client behind the scenes, he will have the final word on this.

I usually only offer the following for the "client".

However, for transparency purposes and to give a general overview for MC088:
Overview of Mix Round 2 Submissions (Statistics Sheet - Mix Round 2) (PDF - updated: 06-NOV-2022 08:05 UTC+2/CEST, full sheet)

 Client Request - Distribution and proper Crediting:

I kindly as every participant of Mix Round 2 to read the request by out Song Provider (@EatMe) regarding proper crediting and possible distribution of Mix Round 2 entries.

Please read more about this in post #096

Thank you for reading. :educate:
