Did we ever had more single tracks? Don't think so.
I'd have to check the archives, but I do remember a huge uproar/criticism with one mix pack back in the days having over 30 single tracks. I think it was one of the KVR Audio OSC participant collaborations.

I will try to use the dry guitar sounds and make my own re-amping.
Screenshots and settings (see TXT) for a the original "sound" are present. But going a different route, or doubling the "doubles" is not a bad idea.

No, it's not allowed. This drum set has it's roots in samples anyway (again, see TXT). Please work with what you have since this month's client worked so long to fine tune his core sound. There is still room for more.

Nice to see people getting excited with the song, and very nice to see new faces though I've been part of this community for a couple months only.

To all, thanks for the kind words!

I hope you find it challenging but not overwhelming, and have a great time doing it. Can't wait to hear the results!

Hello!

Just found this site last night... awesome!

So... In order to participate in the challenge, all I need to do is read the rules, download the files (already on that!) and... start mixing?

Hope that´s it!

Yes, that's pretty much it.

May I ask how you found out about the Challenge?

Hohho, metel!

Despite having loads of other shite I'm supposed to be doing, having a go at this is what I want to be doing, so I am! Got the basics (drums, bass, geetars) sounding nicely heavy in a sort of faux Rage Against The Machine stylee. That's the easy part - now how do I fit all these bloody synthesisers in? As it says in some book or other, "ye shall reap as ye so sow"..which probably only makes sense to anyone who entered last month's contest.. :hihi:

Ah... nice! The link was posted there since we collaborated on testing that streaming service.
He also mentioned the Mix Challenge is his 1st August APN (Audio Production News) live stream.

Welcome aboard!

Always a pleasure to work on a good, well, thought out, well recorded song. I should try doing one myself sometime.

Being an old rocker bastard (New Order were the first band I saw live, but Metallica were next..) I've tried to go for a big rokk production in the first part, with a bit more artistic licence and a few more ethereal touches in the second. At least that's how I planned it...Used the DI guitars and becuase the tone is so good, virtually had the sound I wanted in about 5 minutes,. Nice one. Sinthesisers not so easy, but I think I've got them in ok, and more prominent in the second part.

Lots and lots of kompression/tape simulators/lofi bits. Is it any good - who knows? I had a top time doing it anyhow!
