Sorry I didn't explain how I mixed it. It is just a quick mix I did in Harrison Mixbus with builtin Harrison Plugins and here and there I have used 1176 from UAD mainly on drum. Other than that It is the builtin Harrison 32C. Cheers

David,

Here is my mix. I enjoyed mixing the song. I have heard several other songs from you in the past, and they have all been impressive.

I used Softube Vintage Amp Room for the guitars.

Vocals were a mix of 1176 into a Puigtec or 1176 into LA2A

Drums were mostly Waves SSL E Channel into Slate VMR.

Thank you for the song. That night left an impression on me as well halfway around the world in St. Louis, USA.

I hope you like my take on it!

Kevin White

Hello all! Here's my mix of the song. I was going for a clean and natural sound. I spent some extra time on this to challenge myself to clean up as many little details as possible, but I still ran out of time  As you can hear, this mix is mostly EQ, mild reverb and a little phaser effect on the guitar and horns. I had to revisit the snare drum several times until I came up with a scheme for giving it some feel, which resulted in me using compression with a slow attack and automating the pre-effects level to hit the compressor harder when I needed accents.

Hi,

this is hardcore last minute:

MP3: https://drive.google.com/open?id=12HUGy ... PMX42IaSWj

WAV: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1h-LtY ... hNUOrulYkh

I didn't really finish the mix in time but last minute (or second) decided that I have already put too much effort in there for just letting it go to waste.

My main objective was to prevent overcompression. At first glance the genre screams for a heavy compressed sound but I think it looses a lot of impact and intimacy if you just flatten out the lead vocal and make the song a thin piece of paper (which fits some other styles quite well). There is really nothing fancy going on. Just a bit of EQ, Reverb an Delay and the tiniest amount of compression I felt I could get away with (mostly just parallel).

Cheers
Mork

Hi there

Decided recently to give this one a try. Very nice song.

Used mainly preamps by Acustica Audio and Cakewalk´s stock fx.

Tried to do something nice with the voices, lots of automation there! (Good idea to include the lyrics with the files!)

Other than that, nothing really special.

(Still fighting with my bass managing though...)

Good luck to all!

Edit:

So, giving a look at my session, as I said nothing special really. I did try a bit of Hornet´s Graffio on bass (post Kuassa´s Cerberus), mainly to lift it up a bit in the "solo".

Tried to give the tracks a little more "depth" with the AA preamps, used them willy-nilly, just tried them till I got some color I liked... even in combinations. Compressors are AA Lime and Pink2, eq´s are Cakewalk´s. Tried some Purple (pultec) on bass and kick.

For rooms, plates and halls used Rematrix (stock deconvolver in Cakewalk), for delays and echos used Nomad´s BlueTubes plugins, which also come with Cakewalk.

Gave a read to the lyrics, then tried to highlight or diferentiate the phrases and words that I thought "needed" it... and used that "road map" to work the voices automation and fx. The idea being for harmonies and efects to give "weight" to the words, the story.

So, hopefully it turned out nice.

Bye!

Coming back from a snack after uploading, I see I did a bit too late.
Anyway, It was cool to mix, was also the quickest mix I ever made. I probably would take it a bit further if I had the time. The song is worth it.

On Master Bus I'm using from the get go, a Waves PuigChild, doing no compression, followed by a PuigTec EQP1A with 3 at 100 and 3,5 at 10K with a broad Q and on the end Mike's NLS Buss with a bit of drive. I'm using NLS channel, various versions, on group channels: All vocals, all drums, bass, all guitars and all horns.
I have two main parallel chains: One for drums and bass with two waves CLA76 one for the right channel other for the left one followed by EQP1 with the same kind of smile face eq as the MssterBus; The other parallel is also two CLA76 were goes everything else.
I'm mulcting the bass on three bands, keeping the low and hi bands with just the DI signal, and on the mid band I'm using Rollamp (Analog obsession) amp sim.
Drum Bus - SSL G Comp, PuigTec EQP1A and MEQ5.
Kick - Renaissance EQ, CLA76
Kick parallel - Head Crusher (Audio Assault, free)
Snare- SSL E Channel (Waves)
Snare parallel - DC1A2 (Klanghelm, free)
Snare and Toms Reverb - Two mono Little Plate (SoundToys) with some drive from IVGI (Klanghelm, free)
HiHat - SSL E Channel
OverHeads - Scheps Omni Channel (Waves)
Drum Room - SSL E Channel, Devil Loc Deluxe (SoundToys)(parallel), going to MannyMarroquin Reverb (Waves), medium room.
Tambourine - Devil Loc Deluxe (SoundToys)(parallel)
Twin Guitar - Scheps Omni Channel send to FreqEcho (Valhala, free)
Plexi Tele - Decapitator (SoundToys), Renaissance EQ, send to FreqEcho
Horns - Scheps Omni Channel, Little Plate
Horns parallel 1 - Morphoder (Waves) with tweaked whisper preset, Decapitator.
Horns parallel 2 - FuzzPlus3 (Audio Damage)
Vocals - Renaissance EQ, Renaissance Compressor, CLA76, CA2A (Cakewalk), Renaissance Deesser.
Vocals Reverb - Little Plate
Vocals Delay - ReaDelay, SuperTap6 (Waves)
Vocals, OverHeads, Hihat, are send to a Hall (Manny Reverb) with different preDelays.
Cheers,
Pedro Pitta Groz
