Hello Folks!

Warm Greetings!
First of all I would like to thank the artist on the production.Kudos!

I ll start of by saying that the mix was quite challenging to get the genre right.

I started of with the low frequencies and moved on to the High's keeping in mind the arrangement.
I used a lot of stereo imaging and direction spreading this time .

My drums bus had the kramer drms to glue the kit together.Individually I used binaural panning on most of the kit.

Guitars were processed by equing using fab-Q3 and stereo imaging along with compression and widening.

Bass was amped out using logic bass amp built in plugin

Vocals had quite a lot of processing using c6, nektar 2, and fab filter-Q3 along with a lot of ambience and delay using H-DELAY , REVERBS used were valhalla and manny-M

The Strings and keyboards were widened first then eq-d using Fab filter, Slight compression and ambience used using logic reverbs

The summation buss had a FAB summation plugin on with slight dynamics tweaking on it .

This time I checked on the resolution and had an online bounce with a second cycle pass to ensure on the quality check.

Hi!

Here is my contribution.
I'm not sure I hit the "real room" theme properly (reverb time > 4 sec. ), although I tried to make it sound "cinematic".
The vocals in the hook are also sounding a bit off, but I like the "exposed" feel for the verse.

I normally only mix my own loops and ideas (not even vocals), so
this is basically my first mix from "real recorded stuff" ever, so I'm really looking forward to some feedback!

Cheers!

Hi everybody, thanks Dirk and Mr Fox for this new challenge !

Here is my submission :

Mp3 : https://drive.google.com/open?id=1xU4K2 ... m6VKMbf5Ae
Wav : https://drive.google.com/open?id=1XVCN7 ... ES1ceoZMpY

No track cleaning (I hate cleaning), few edits (mainly fades out), great arrangement : all of this sounds like an easy mix do handle... Except that with the great advantages offered by virtual instruments comes one big counterpart : how do we bring this virtual band to life and how do we make these instruments feel like real ones? Well, I don't know... But I personally tried to do so using four strategies :

- reverbs and echoes in order to feel the place.
I used a combination of two convolution reverbs and two short delays (77ms and 308ms) to create ambiance and depth. I also added a chorus effect on the lead vocal that I think give a 60's vibe and help pitchy notes to fit in.

- saturation to inject an analog feel.
I used different kind of saturation flavor using Softube Harmonics plugin. I put it on vocal, piano, room mikes, kick and snare. I also cranked up the saturation knob of the TLA100A compressor on bass guitar. On masterbus I used the TDR Silk EQ output saturation. Doing so my goal was to open the instruments sound and add life to them.

- let the little existing imperfections do their humanizing job.
I found that the lead vocal, the piano and the drums have a great live feel on their own. For me small imperfections help to create the feeling of a real band playing. So I did very few edits to keep this intact. I have only made light volume riding on the lead instruments to keep them over the top.

- create the depth that we naturally find in live gig situation.
I use three busses to layer instruments : the vocal and the e-piano as the main focus intruments, guitare, organ and bass as the second layer, drums and strings as the back layer. Each bus has a tilt EQ to help create depth and separation.

I mixed in Reaper with Softube Console 1 (Summit Audio Grand Channel emulation) and TDR Slick EQ on almost every track.
On the masterbus I used : a light Midside Processor to keep low frequencies centered > TDR Slick EQ to add top end and saturation > Summit Audio TLA-100A compressor to glue things.

Thanks again and good luck !

Hello everyone :) here's my entry:

MP3: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1miMLTQ ... sp=sharing
WAV: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HW0hqS ... sp=sharing

My main goal for this mix was to balance all instruments, making everything nice and even. The most challenging aspects in that were the kick (which is ultimately way less present compared to the original mix) and the guitar solo (I'm a guitarist myself so I have this natural tendency to push guitars louder but this, obviously, is not a rock record :D ). Tried not to go crazy with the reverbs in order to make them perceptible but not really obvious.

Hi,

here is my mix. Tried to leave it as natural as possible.

La2a on Vocals, TLA-100A on Bass, 88r EQs on Drums, 1084 EQs on Bass and Vocal. Parallel 1176 E on Room and OH.
33609 on a Keys/Vocal/Guitar Subgroup
A-Designs Hammer and Foote P3s Comp on Mix Bus.
Bricasti Impulse responses on different instruments with different predelays. Also a tiny bit of Bricasti IR on the whole mix, low cutted.
