Hi All,

Here is my attempt at this month track....enjoyed mixing this (even though not what I would normally listen to! )
Thanks to @Mister Fox as usual and @javiramallo for supplying the song which again has moved med out of my comfort zone
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1O20TON ... errOC/view

DRUMS

Split the percussion track into a kick and snare, also kept the original and blended in as well. Just EQ and compression used on the tracks to get a sound I felt worked.

Also create one more duplicate of the percussion track, which I processed as a "room" track: using slight saturation, low cut around 230 and high cut around 5k. This was then compressed and feed into a reverb(pheonixverb). Blended in quite low (may not even notice if it was muted, but left it as I was experimenting)

Little Drum track had similar splitting of frequency's,and EQ/Compression and limiter.

Reverse Cymbal: not a lot here, little compression and a small high shelf around 7k

Claps: panned 50%L & R - eq/compression and also clipped them with Kclip3
Shakers: panned 80% L & R - EQ/Compression and some saturation, with a little of del

Some of the drum/percussion tracks were then sent to:
Parallel compress (1176)
Plate reverb
Saturation
Delay (echoboy)- only for shakers which I used on the ontro.

BASS
Duplicated track
1 track had a SVTVR amp applied the other had the lows to mid removed and then compressed heavily then added some chorus effect on...blend in with the other track.
Bass Bus then had some eq to take remove below 80Hz then compression and a limiter. Some ducking against the "kick" as well.

Guitars: Mercurial SS-11X to generate a tone I quite liked, small amount of EQ after (hi/low cuts)
Panned 100%LR for the main rhythm verse tracks, brought in to 80% for chorus tracks.
track "05" was sent to a delay aux and reverb aux - other tracks were sent to reverb aux as well.
All guitar tracks went into a Guitar bus which had some further compression and a SSL E channel strip (plugin alliance), but just using EQ here to boost around 3k & 8k a a few db.

SYNTH:Some eq to remove some harshness and used little alterboy to generate an octave lower version which was mixed in very low, then into a delay and reverb.

VOX: EQ/Comp/Dessing using Channev, then further light compression with an LA2 type, also then went into another desser.
All vox tracks went to pultek/la2/pultek bus before being mixed back with the original, where I applied some EQ/further desser and compression
Backing vox had also Little Alterboy on bring up pitch, and blending in...also using the saturation a little.

Vox Aux: used a parrallel processing track which I automated louder in the chourus sections, also used delay/reverb/saturation and a tape effect.
Automation used to send different amounts here and there.

FX Tracks:
Little clean blip track, removed most of the low below 900 and high (above 3.5k), then put mixed in a pitch shift of an octave down, which I compressed slightly before going to a reverb/delay.
Droplet: Just some eq compressiona and reverb/delay.

Outro: Sent the Shakers to a delay just before the end so they faded out over the little drum track section, the squaky toy noise was left in but and had a delay effect to let it decay out.

Master
: Black Box for some subtle saturation, EQ just rolling off everything below 24hz, then some compression using LA2 (cakewalk) (just the highs being processed) and then a TCL-2 (plugin alliance) Opto compressor , only doing about 1db in each unit (no make up gain).

Much automation used in this, mainly volume but some panning and effect sends as well.
Hope you enjoy :tu:

Many thanks to @javiramallo for providing this month's challenge.
@Mister Fox, our utmost thanks for running the show.

My mix:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LYmyX- ... sp=sharing

This mix was all about control. Transients, eq, compression. A little here and there... avoiding heavy lifting on any one step.

I planned to keep everything flowing as it is a dense mix. You just have to makes the tracks weave without clashing with each other.

Low-end is very controlled as those guitars can get quite boomy. The main rhythm guitars are big but not bassy.

Group Drums - saturation, compressor
The drums had a lot of transient control to tame them. I didn't want anything sticking out and taking attention away from the main elements. Eq was used sparingly. Ambient verbs on the reverse cymbal. Delay and Ambient verb on one of the FX tracks.

Group Bass - saturation
Bass had a compressor and overdrive.

Group LV - eq, deesser, saturation
All vocals had eq, soothe, deesser, saturation, and compression.

Group 4B - no bus processing
Synth had eq and an amp.

Group 4A - saturation, eq, amp
Rhythm - transient control, compression, eq, saturation

Group 4A - saturation, eq, amp
Guitar - transient control, compression, eq

Group 3B - saturation, amp, eq
Arreglos - transient control, compression, eq

Group 3A - transient control, saturation, eq, amp, deesser, spring
Spanish - eq

Master - inflator, saturation, limiter

Thanks for the people who make this possible, Mr Fox and Javier, the author. It has been a pleausure to mix this sweet and inspired song. It's my first time here and I hope I'm within the rules.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ozV0Op ... sp=sharing

DRUMS
Smooth compression in the Bus.
Split the Percu track.
Shaker 50-55% pan each side
Claps 85-80% pan each side; clashing the Percu track. I tried to solve it lowering the mids in the latter.
Smooth the transient attack in the Little Drum and the Claps.
Reverse Cymbal, some extra reverb.

FX
Beep duplicated and set down an octave, to temper it. 100% pan left.
Droplet 58% right.

BASS
Fender amp/cab.
Side chain from the Percu track (the kick)
Closer delay.

GUITAR
Edit some glitches and volume in the Arreglos and Guit1 tracks.
Rhythm guitar duplicated and hard panning.
Guit 1 40-45% pan L/R and 2 70-75%

SYNTH
Duplicated.
More open and louder in the Chorus.
Parallel compression for some thickness.

VOICE
Parallel compression.
Tuned.
Rid of the breathing.
Manual de-essing for the lead vocal.
Support 32-33% pan.
Backs hard panning and extra reverb.

MASTER BUS
Slight eq and comp.
A limiter to keep the level down the threshold.

Peak -1.0
Lufs-I -19.2

Hopefully, I would like to improve my mix in the second round.
Good luck, dudes.

Hello,
Here is my mix:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1a23Dg1 ... sp=sharing

Guitars - I didn't changed it. I just added 3db compression to control the sound
Vocal - For me it sounded with more upper midrange and a little bit harsh so i changed it with eq. Also i added compression and de-esser.
Bass - I cuted at 239hz at-5.5 db and controled it with compression
Master - I used tape saturation thing.

Cheers!

Hello everyone, I hope everything goes well and enjoying this beautiful song.

Autor: Javi Ramallo
Canción: Lo Siento por Sevilla
Genero: Cantaautor

https://www.dropbox.com/s/tlsz734owilgs ... a.wav?dl=0

16.5 LUFS INTEGRATED
-1.5 TRUE PEAK MAX

24 / 44,100

(Traductor Google)

This is a beautiful production of love and I have really enjoyed mixing it.
Thank you very much Javi for giving us access to it.

In this production I wanted to bring the voice more to the front of the song.

About the low-end, many frequencies on percussion and guitars were
placed and cared for each other throughout the mixture.

In relation to the percussion instruments and Drums and percussion, I have made a
balance between them rocking the Kick.

Some curious frequencies appeared that can be thought to belong to the bass,
however they are from the Spanish guitar. The truth is that I liked them a lot, in
certain occasions reach the frequency of a bass and therefore with great subtlety
I have tried that both have a presence.

Some technical data:
08 clap L and 09 clap R have their own group: CLAP MIX: BC Bain, apQualizer2, API 550A
L2 STEREO, Ozone Image

19 BASS: eq Side, compressor, Saturn. Sea added some stereo information.

20 PERCU KICK: EQ, SSLComp, EQ, FETISH, L2 (All other sounds other than the
Kick was dealt with separately).

13 Little Drum, 08 Clap L, 09 Clap R, 19 BASS, 05 GUITAR ARRANGEMENTS. All were
edited for timing reasons, or background noise. Some instruments
they were not synchronized on purpose.

The first 3 seconds of the song were put on in silence.
3 min 16 sec: the end click of the recording was removed.

Greetings to all and good mixtures !!!

Hi !

This time I’ve mixed that one on an analog console, that’ why I’m not attaching any print screen of the DAW. I had only 3hours free from the owner of the studio so that was one shot mix..if I had only another half an hour I could give more attention to the FX channels which I left unprocessed..

Mixing Process:
Just the basic stuff you can do with an analog console and two effect units… Levels, EQing, Compressing and add Reverb.
No automation, no tricks, no fancy stuff, remember I had only a 3hour window to do this

Hope it’s ok to your ears..!

Hey,
Firstly thanks for this beautiful song, it was fun mixing it.
There is nothing much fancy plugins used in this mix.

For Vocals:
Compressor to balance vocals.
eq to clean up.
Fresh air plguin by slate digital to get the high end crisp in the vocals.
desser at two different frequency ranges and
obviouslt delay and reverb bus.

Guitar:
Compressor, eq, a little bit of saturation and reverb.
I have separated all the lead guitars and added delay & reverb.

Percussions :
I have seperated high and low percs.
Used ozone imager to make highs wider and lows mono.

Side chained pretty much everything except vocals, shaker and fx.

Here is the link to the track :

Thanks,
Shubhashish.

Hi Javier, Mr Fox and everyone, here is my entry for this month's Mix Challenge:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1inKSuO ... sp=sharing

Firstly, thanks Javier for allowing us the chance to mix this song.

Good luck everyone and I am greatful for any constructive criticism that you may have with regards to my mix for Lo Siento Por Sevilla.

Here is an outline of what I have done and the chains I have used:

I split the Percussion into two with a low channel and a high Channel with a 120hz crossover.

I bussed the lows of the Percussion (Kick) and Bass to one bus and treated them together (sub 120hz).

I chose to use a Glue Reverb Channel which many channels are sent to, to add some cohesiveness to everything.

All of the Delay Busses are sent to the Glue Reverb. The delays themselves are used with very low feedback (0-2) and used to set the position in the room.

I chose to automate the synth part quite a bit so that it would poke through at points.

This is my first time using a room modeller (Waves NX CLA) to monitor through.

All plugins I used are from Waves unless otherwise stated.
