Hey;)

I remember long time ago there where feedbacks for all of the mixes taking part in the contest. Its not like that now? And if not why is that?

Its hard to learn from it this way , i understand its a contest but still its missing for me.

As explained in the Rule Book (post #006, last paragraph)
Rules for participants of the Mix Challenge wrote: Giving feedback to each other:
  • If you didn't make it to "Mix Round 2", you can nicely ask for feedback from the song provider - but the "client" is not under any obligation to do so for participants outside the follow-up round (considering the amount of monthly participants)
  • ...
Giving feedback to (with this month) 82 participants is time consuming. Song providers can declare beforehand what time they have and/or can invest. In this case, only for the top 15 entries. Everything else would be bonus.

Technical "feedback" is available via the Statistic Sheets (post #114)

@Isa
duly noted ^^
thank you you for selecting me amongst the 15 !
About the reverse reverb thing, it is actually Eventide Blackhole, not reverse at all, I kinda liked the wooosh effect ^^ but if you don't like I can replace it or attenuate it, what fits better the mix to your ears.

Thanks for your feedback! I did everything you've suggested but also clean up the mix a bit.

Hello,

I am grateful to participate in Mix Round 2. I have made several enhancements to my mix, including a slight application of MAutoVolume and adjustments such as removing the low-end filter on the vocals.

For the hi-hats, I incorporated MSpectralDynamics, similar to Soothe, to mitigate any bleeding.

Additionally, I applied a touch of Invigorate by Newfangled Audio on the master channel to achieve a fuller sound.

Thanks to Mr. Fox and the song provider. this challenge has indeed been a significant learning experience. :phew:

I'm grateful for the wildcard opportunity but I'll respectfully withdraw. I'm under some time constraints that would prevent me remixing the song.
Best of luck to everyone else beavering away and fine-tuning their mixes.

Thank you for the opportunity to participate in Round 2 of Mix Challenge MC099. Here is the link for this mix:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1n-k-ao ... sp=sharing

In Round 1, my filename was flagged for not using the filename template. I looked at it so many times trying to figure out was wrong with it. And it wasn't until just now that I noticed what it was... There is double underscores between the names... And the only reason I noticed this was because after checking my Round 2 submission again, there was a slightly shorter line in front of the R2 in the Round 2 filename template... The double underscore looks like a single character...

On to the corrections... Here is the list of corrections requested:

0:02s I hear some strange hissing noise right when the bass drum plays. Find where that is and decrease it or cut it out.
0:15s Vocal seems a bit drowned out. There seems to be a lot muddiness with the instruments. Find some space for the vocal by making cuts to the other instruments. Also the guiro is too loud decrease drastically at least ny 2.5db.
Also try to avoid using pitch correction where it is very noticeable. You may need to decrease the speed.
2:00s Maybe instead of delay on vocal use a reverb instead. Try a reverb of at least .2s decay.

Addressing the bass drum, I reduced the level of the drum room track.

For point number 2, I used multiband compression on the kick, bass and trumpets. All of which, I used the sidechain feature triggered by the vocal track and my focus was the low midrange band where the root notes of the vocals were residing. I also reduced the Guiro quite a bit.

Point 3, I decreased the speed of the pitch correction and adjusted it to sound more transparent.

Point 4, I reduced my stereo delay track and fed my throw delays directly into a reverb to tuck them in and basically turning it into a Predelay for the reverb.

For the generic notes, I did end up using a Sansamp to get some crunch on the bass. I also did some extra automation on the trumpets to help accent some parts and I faded out the last bass note as well. I actually intended to fade it out in Round 1 one but forgot... whoops. Lol. And I used a tape emulation plugin on master bus as well which I did not use before.

Thank you and have a wonderful week!

Hello @Isa,

Thank you for the opportunity to advance to round 2. I made the changes that you requested. I removed the auto-tune, lowered the piano 3 db and I added reverb to the marimba to give it more of a pad vibe. Below is the link to my round 2 mix.
