Hi @Kron,
Thanks for your comment. I probably took the "I'm hoping to hear some quite heavy and/or creative use of reverbs and delays" comment too far and that's fine - I'm here to learn, practice and improve. The song provider has very kindly given me some additional feedback which is really helpful.
Cheers!

Hi @BenjiRage ,
This is my revision for the second round.
I just applied some automation to the vocals in the chorus sections to bring them slightly more forward in the mix.
Good luck to all the participants, and well done, everybody
Cheers

Hey buddy, I tried sending you a private message over an hour ago, but it is stuck in my outbox. Don't know why.
Does this ring a bell?

Thank you for the feedback @BenjiRage . Funny that I thought drums had too much attack and reduced transients for the final bounce.BenjiRage wrote: ↑Mon Jun 30, 2025 13:16 CEST

Drums are a bit roomy and lose some attack because of it, especially the toms. OB plucky is a little loud. The vocals have a good up-front quality with very good definition and diction, I can hear all the syllables really well, which not everyone managed in their mix, so well done with this. You've used some nice effects too, which I quite like.

Shame it wasn't enough to get into the final, good luck everyone and let the best mix win!

Nice bounce to OB plucky, and nice creative effects in the intro. Vocals are very harsh (could do with a cut around 2.5kHz) and are also slightly too loud. Synths and drums are at a good level generally though with everything audible. Kinda struggling for what else to feed back on, it's a decent mix and I like it but I don't know if it's just the vocal balance as I'm not loving it yet.
Hi BenjiRage,
Thank you for the feedback. Every little bit helps. I will revisit the vocals and work on them for my own growth.
Thank you,

Re: MIX CHALLENGE - MC104 June 2025 - Mix Round 1 in evaluation
Thanks @BenjiRage despite my mix being 13 minutes past the deadline and withdrawn from the competition. You really did not have to take the time to even listen to my mix and I truly appreciate your feedback.
I will take your feedback as somewhat of a victory.
The last song you provided for this challenge (MC094__Pray_For_Hayden__Dont_Panic), my mix sucked out loud, with very bad frequencies! And your brutal feedback was warranted.
To see you actually liked some aspects of this mix, I feel I'm making some progress.

I think too much saturation has been used on the OB plucky and D50 Fantasia tracks, they are very "fuzzed up" and dirty sounding - I presume this is the HeadCrusher plugin doing its work, but I think it sounds out of place in the context of the song. The vocals in contrast are crystal clear and clean, which I find much more pleasing. They are however very sibilant with really cutting esses that would benefit from either a compressor that lets less of the transients through, or a bit of de-essing. Lovely use of reverb on the vocals though, really like this. You also get the same comment as so many other mixes though: K2000 piano in the mid section is too quiet!
